Understanding Sensory Processing and Regulation in Children

A practical training day for professionals

This full-day training is designed for professionals who want to deepen their understanding of sensory processing, regulation, and how sensory differences can underpin behaviour, learning, and emotional wellbeing.


Led by Ali Neal, an experienced Occupational Therapist specialising in Sensory Integration, this training will support you to move beyond “behaviour management” and towards curiosity, understanding, and effective support. You’ll explore:

  • How sensory systems develop and work together

  • The impact of sensory processing differences on behaviour, attention, emotions, and relationships

  • Sensory under- and over-responsivity, regulation, and overload

  • The role of interoception in emotional regulation

  • How sensory needs intersect with neurodiversity, trauma, attachment, and anxiety

  • Practical strategies to support regulation at home, in school, and in services

This is a highly practical day, packed with real-life examples, reflective discussion, and strategies you can take straight back into your work with children and families.This training is ideal for:

  • Family support workers

  • Parent coaches

  • Social workers

  • SEN and inclusion staff

  • Therapeutic practitioners

  • Anyone supporting children with additional needs, trauma, or emotional distress
